Waxing Poetic – A Case for The Chronicles of Zee & Zoey

by Deb at 12:15 PM • Uncategorized18 Comments

I slept in this morning for the first time in months and woke up with the instant urge to wax poetic from my soapbox. We traveled quite a distance yesterday for Thanksgiving dinner with the family, and it appeared somewhere between the turkey and the coffee, that Christmas had already begun. As we drove home in the dark and entered our neighborhood, it was already ablaze with the jarring commercialism of Christmas lights. Now, mind you, I love Christmas and I love the lights, but can’t I even digest my dinner before a new holiday begins?

Exhausted from the day, instead of going to the computer like I normally do, I crashed on the couch with Dan and the kitties to relax from a wonderful, but weary day. Rather than feel the peaceful calm I was hoping for, I was bombarded with non-stop ugly and loud commercials telling me to go stand in line to be the first one let in for the trampling of crazed people looking to buy a TV at 40% off at midnight. Geesh…. Not only did I not feel compelled to fall into the frenzy of possessed shoppers, I became stronger in my mindset that we need to do a serious rewind to days gone past in our lives. Read more

Caturday – Cats in Charge

by Deb at 6:45 AM • Uncategorized9 Comments

In preparation for my upcoming trip to the Cat Writers’ Conference in White Plains, NY, I wanted to make sure my blog posts were up to date, so I decided to employ the talents of feline siblings, Rolz and Mia, who PROMISED me they had everything under control and would manage the blog for me.

Being the cynical skeptic that I am, I wanted to believe them and kept my paws crossed that they would entertain you this Caturday with a delightful feline tale of fun and fancy. I must admit that I wasn’t all that convinced that they would step up to the plate, so, needless to say I nagged them endlessly until I departed on Thursday for my trip. They basically gave me a steely glare  as I walked out the door, clearly miffed that I did not trust them.

Well… here it is, Saturday, and I woke up with anticipation to see what wonderful story would greet me on my blog…. I guess this picture is worth a thousand words, because it certainly sums up the extent of their help in one quick glance….

The Amazing Weekend

Hi Everybody!!! It’s me, Peanut! I hope you all had a great weekend, cuz boy I sure did! It was so amazing that I just had to share it with you! I really like weekends no matter what happens – both my humans are home together and sometimes they have coffee in the morning and take Papa Zee, Mama Zoey, my sister Mia, my brother Rolz, and Jazz and Harley out in the fenced back yard for some exploring time. Recapturing my Youth

I don’t know exactly when it happened. Maybe it’s the magic “Five-O” age, maybe it’s because I am going to a baby shower this weekend for my dear friend Madalina who is old enough to be my daughter, who is now having daughter’s of her own (she’s expecting twins), but I have been feeling a bit out of sorts lately coming to grips with the fact that I am no longer young. Wrinkles, sagging, aches, and pains… I have them all and despite all the miracle claims the commercials on TV make, there is no product in the world that makes all that magically disappear! So, rather than a long post bemoaning my fate, I felt nostalgic for some youth and thought I would just simply post a picture of one of Zee and Zoey’s kittens that was taken at 6 weeks of age – besides newborn babies, there is absolutely nothing more precious in the world than a sweet little kitten! I know this picture gave me my smile for the day and I hope it brightens your day as well! As far as who this kitten is… well… your guess is as good as mine! We found it virtually impossible to figure out who was who at this age, so this picture is either of Mia, Peanut, Rolz, or Zeuss!
