Cats, computers, books, blogging, writing… yup… that about sums me up!

It’s almost impossible for me to believe, but I’ve been blogging for almost 6 years now. It started as an afterthought – I was writing my first book – The Chronicles of Zee & Zoey – A Journey of the Extraordinarily Ordinary and it was brought to my attention at a writing conference that I needed a blog. So I started a blog. I got business cards. I set up an LLC. All without having the foresight to realize that even though I knew Zee and Zoey were two of my cats that inspired me to change my life, unless you knew me personally, or bought the book, the rest of the world probably didn’t. As an ambassador for BlogPaws 2016, I’ve learned there is a difference between personal blogging and blogging for business.

For those of us that blog, we do it for a variety of reasons and with a variety of styles. For some, it’s strictly a hobby or method of communication with no intention of monetization or using it for business purposes. Blogging for the pure joy of blogging with no strings attached. For others, it’s not only a method of expression (which can run the gambit from educational and informative to humorous and entertaining), but a vehicle to generate income and a professional career. Once again – exciting news in the world of pet blogging! Nominations are open for the 2016 BlogPaws Pet Blogging Nose-to-Nose Social Media Awards. This is exciting for a variety of reasons, most of which is quality and striving for personal excellence for those of us that blog on a regular basis.

Let’s be honest – whether you’re a blogger, a blog reader, or both – it’s a lot more enjoyable to read a post that is well-written, researched, and thought out. Notwithstanding pet-speak, you know, that pet invented language where a blogger writes in the perceived voice of the pet, making spell-check go all wacky, nobody likes to read a poorly crafted post rife with spelling and editing errors.
