A Thank You Message and Winner of the SisalAngle™ Incline Scratcher and BrushUp™ Self-Grooming Post from SmartyKat®

Jazmine51

Jazmine and I say “Thank you very much” for all the wonderful birthday wishes over the weekend!

Hi Everyone! As we hit mid-week, we have a little bit of this and a little bit of that for today! First off, Jazmine and I want to thank all of you for the wonderful birthday wishes… Jazmine turned one year old, and me, well, let’s just leave it at some unnamed double digit that is just best left alone…

Since my birthday was Friday and Jazmine’s was Sunday, it seemed like the whole weekend was one long celebration and one of the highlights was when I got a special delivery from my step-daughter Crystal and her boyfriend Dave. Apparently it is now officially hard to buy gifts for me – number one because it seems I already own everything on this earth with leopard on it (not true… I found a new pair of leopard shoes to buy this weekend) and number two because the cats either eat or destroy most of the stuff that normal people get, like bouquets of flowers.

A bouquet of flowers? Is that something you eat?

Yeah… it’s true. Not a very sentimental statement, but I don’t think I’ve had a delivery of flowers in over 10 years because the moment a bouquet comes into the house, the cats dive into it like a bunch of termites on wood, which is not good for them. So, either I get flowers and put them into a room where I have to close the door and can’t enjoy them or I get something else.

The cats inspect my edible arrangement… probably looking for a catnip toy or dead mice…

This year Crystal went gourmet and got me a really cool edible arrangement of fruits dipped in chocolate! Naturally the cats wanted to dive into that as well, but once they saw there was no greenery, dead mice, or catnip in it, their interest waned and they left it alone. Actually, that is not true at all and I’m completely lying. They did not leave it alone and I was forced to immediately put it in the refrigerator because chocolate is dangerous for kitties and I did not want them licking it. But, at least I did get to enjoy the arrangement and eat it, rather than keep it hidden!

What is with cats and obsessive behaviors? Sometimes I will bring some tall grass or weeds into the house, heading to the trash bin and the cats will go bonkers insane, sniffing, batting, and biting it. The same with plastic bags. Why do they feel compelled to lick them incessantly?

If I am carrying plant clippings through the house, you can make a sure thing bet that the cats will come by to investigate!

Anyhow… enough of us. We are happy to extend the celebration to others by announcing the winner of our great SisalAngle™ Incline Scratcher and BrushUp™ Self-Grooming Post from SmartyKat®  giveaway and it is none other than our feline-loving friend, Sue Brandes!! Congratulations Sue! We just know your gang will love these two great products and we look forward to you sharing pictures on Facebook.

Editors Note: As most of you know by now, we lost a true treasure in the animal loving world on Tuesday, September 30, when Dr. Lorie Huston passed away due to complications from liver failure. She was a dear friend to me and I have many, many fond memories of her. I am still trying to process it and will do a special post in her honor on Thursday. RIP Lorie – you will be greatly missed…

  8. I can certainly see why they’re so enamored by those plant clippings. They look extremely chaseable, to me.

    Purrs,
    Nissy

PS. You’ve got to admit, a nip mouse tucked into that beautiful edible arrangement would have been a nice touch.
