A Door is a Door is a Door…
The beauty about video as a medium, is that it can take the words from a book and bring them to life with startling reality! One of my favorite chapters of The Chronicles of Zee & Zoey is Chapter 23 – A Door is a Door is a Door. The whole essence of this chapter is the essence of the book – that cats find the ordinary in everyday life and make it extraordinary. No where is this more evident than Saturday mornings.
Every Saturday morning we treat our gang to an outdoor adventure in our fenced in backyard. They live for this moment and release with complete abandon, everything that is inherent to being a cat. Dan has exquisitely brought this chapter to life and for anyone that has ever wondered what it feels like to be a cat, nothing can express it more clearly than this foray into the feline mind, spirit, and body.
As a disclaimer, anyone that knows me, knows I live and breathe for my cats and would never put them in harms way. When Zoey is climbing her palm tree, it is done in complete safety. This is a tall, smooth tree trunk that she can only climb about half way. We can reach her at all times and her leash is dropped free. There are no branches whatsoever that she can fall into to tangle herself.
Dan’s videos are extraordinary. Ruby was sitting on my lap while I was watching this. The ZZTV theme really got her attention, and whenever there was a close up of one of your cats, she was very intersted!
Thank you Ingrid! I love knowing that Ruby was enjoying the video too!! When Dan put it together and showed it to me for the first time, Harley was on my lap, completely transfixed to the screen!
They are all such beauties. The call of the wild lures them out. But the sound of the dinner bell will always bring them home.
So true Sharon! Mia is our tricky, stubborn one… the only thing that lures her out is a shake of a bag of Tempatations Kitty Treats! Hmmm…. endorsement anyone?!!
WOW I LOVE your backyard !!!
Thanks Kjelle!! The yard is PAWSOME, the upkeep, not so much….
Oh my, I can sure see why they love it so very much! The video was terrific and I really enjoyed seeing your yard!
Yes Brian, the yard is a dream come true for cats!!
I want my backyard to look like that when it is done…
Exquisite video — I loved watching them explore this backyard paradise. You really can see the sheer delight they take in checking out every little thing.
I’m sitting here saying out loud to whoever will listen ” Those cats are so beautiful!” Sadly Austin was not impressed. He’s more interested in the herring gull in the garden! I loved the video. Music and slow mo shots were ace! xox
Hmmm… the day we impress Austin… that is something I would like to see!! Glad to see he’s just being his usual self!!
Awesome!!! We thinks you should make a movie to show at BlogPaws! We would pays green papers to see it! Thanks, as always, for visiting and leaving your pawprint on our bloggie!
That is a very intriguing idea Teri! Any suggestions on a theme? Always happy to stop by and I hope Coco is doing well!
Aw, I bet they love it!
They sure do Doctor Vet!! I would love to be a cat, if for just a brief moment to experience the outside world the way they do! Right now, all I see is weeds and plants that need to be watered!!
