A Day in the Life of Callie the Calico

As some of you may or may not know, Callie the Calico is our resident neighborhood cat that has decided our house is her second home. When we first met her many months ago, she was primarily a pretty blur in the background of our side or back yard and was extremely timid and shy. Well, as you can see from this picture, Callie has relaxed significantly and has now claimed our house as hers, as she quite nonchalantly stretches her body for some morning sun on the walkway to our front door. She is very calm and content and all would appear well. What you don’t realize, is inside our house, all hell has broken lose as chaos and bedlam reigns. All seven of our cats – that would be fourteen front paws – are collectively scratching at the window glass, OVER AND OVER, franticly trying to dig a tunnel to outside to get at her. Callie is a brilliant mastermind as she deliberately taunts them each and every morning, knowing full well they cannot get to her, before she moves on to phase two of her day. The side yard.

Our side yard is a beautiful paradise filled with all kinds of wonderful treats for a kitty cat to delight in – pretty greenery and blooming flowers that are a haven for all kinds of butterflies and dragonflies to feast on as well as a symphony of wild birds that grace our many trees and the occasional squirrel, tail all a twitter, stealing the sunflower nuts for the birds.  There is also an endless supply of lizards, lazily catching the rays of the sun, never quite realizing danger in the form of a cat is lurking, just moments away from a delectable mid-morning snack.  Yes, right on time. Callie has spotted one now… run you silly lizard…run!

Opps… as you can see from this video, it’s too late! Sorry lizard – I warned you, but you would not listen!

Callie opens her mouth with her pretty white teeth and shows us no evidence whatsoever of her crime.

Okay, that was quite a morning… time for her to settle down for her afternoon nap.

See you tomorrow Callie! Thanks for dropping by!
