How You Can Help Save Big Rescue Cats With Little Cat Rescue Treats!

cats can be finicky eaters

Mia is not amused with my assessment of her…

My Mia is the definition of a finicky cat when it comes to food. I’m sure if you went to the dictionary and looked up the word finicky, her picture would be featured front and center. She’s such a pain in the butt when it comes to feeding her that I have to concoct something exclusively for her because she won’t eat what the others do. And when I come home from blogging/writing conferences with a suitcase full of kitty treats, she snubs them all, looking at me like how dare I even try to give her something that every other cat in the world would want to gobble up.

So, when Chris Poole of the insanely popular kitty duo, Cole and Marmalade, asked if I wanted to try out a new treat with my gang, I hesitantly said yes, knowing full well not all of my cats would be on board with the review. But what won me over was the campaign – called Little Cats Helping Big Cats (LCHBC) – these healthy, all-natural, made in the USA, freeze-dried raw meat treats from H3 Essentials were specifically created to help a cause close to my heart – Big Cat Rescue of Tampa, Florida.

Big Cat Rescue is an accredited sanctuary for exotic cats that is home to more than 80 lions, tigers, bobcats, cougars and more. They take care of cats that have been saved from circumstances such as slaughter to make fur coats, cats retiring from performing acts, cats rescued as babies after hunters killed their mothers, and cats being abandoned by owners who wrongly thought they would make good pets. Each time a bag of LCHBC treats is purchased, a percentage of the proceeds goes to support and bring awareness to Big Cat Rescue.

H3 Essential Treats

The Little Cats Helping Big Cats Treats come in 4 yummy flavors – chicken, rabbit, ahi tuna, and minnows. Jazmine says “yes please” to them all!

So, believing in the cause, I gave it a shot. The treats come in four flavors: rabbit, minnow, ahi tuna, and chicken. They’re grain and gluten free, made with a 48-hour slow freeze-drying process that keeps the vital nutrients packed in without cooking the RAW meat. I opened the chicken treats first and was shocked with what happened. Not only did Mia come running from seemingly nowhere, she ravaged into the bag like she hadn’t eaten in weeks, and then she proceeded to growl at the others who dare come near her to steal her treat, keeping it firmly captive under her front paws. I’ve never, ever seen her react to a treat, or any food for that matter, in such a manner.

Poor Rolz – he’s not used to Mia being so bossy with treats! That’s her in the pantry with Jazmine not too far behind!

Now that Mia’s got the treats out of the pantry, it’s time to chase the others away!

Victory! Mia has scored the chicken treats – I better open the bag for her before she tears it apart!

Since the point the bags have been opened, she’s been standing guard by the pantry door, waiting for a treat. I’ve caught her on several occasions getting into the pantry while I wasn’t looking, running off with the bag, and she’s constantly crying, begging for a morsel. All the others love the chicken treats too, so I’ve had to dole out the portions very sparingly.

With the exception of Jazmine who doesn’t say no to anything, the others prefer some flavors over others, with each cat having their own unique preferences. And I was momentarily taken aback when I opened the minnow bag. Out came a full size minnow – I jumped, as I was expecting minnow nuggets!

The treats are rather expensive – $7.99 for a bag, but that’s okay. I firmly believe in the cause and I love seeing Mia so happy about a food product that’s good for her (she’s actually loving the tuna and rabbit treats now too). I certainly won’t be able to afford to get them on a regular basis, but now and again is fine by me.

Those treats sound delicious and certainly have the seal of approval from Mia. Flynn is very finicky too and I have a job getting him to eat. Sometimes he will eat treats, but most times he turns his nose up at them.
