Ring in the New Year Feline Style – Whiskerslist Calendar Review and Giveaway!

Depositphotos_5613992_originalThere was a time, many moons ago when I had control of my life and knew what day of the week it was at all times. Morning, noon, and night came with regularity and I used a calendar to help me mark the passing of time. I always loved calendars (with pictures of cats, naturally) and would use them to jot down special milestones and then when the year would end, I would save the calendar amongst other precious mementos collected throughout the year like greeting cards, letters, and photos.

I love Angie Bailey of Catladyland. Not only is she reliable and talented, but no matter what, she always has a smile, a kind word, and a reason to appreciate life!

I found reason to reflect on this because of a whiskerslist box calendar Angie Bailey of Catladyland sent me. Like an organized and respectable person, she sent it to me MONTHS ago for a review/giveaway and me, dysfunctional scatterbrain that I am of late, I just got to opening it a few days ago and it was at that moment I realized to my horror, that I couldn’t even remember the last time I used a physical calendar for my own personal use.

The calendar that I have hanging in the kitchen for handy reference is dated 2012, the 2014 Cats of the Blogosphere 365 day box calendar in my office next to my computer is stuck on June 23rd because that day is featuring a picture of my beloved angel, Mr. Jazz, and I just didn’t have the heart to move past it, and the beautiful 2014 wall calendar that I got from last years Cat Writers’ Association (CWA) conference is sitting in a pile of paperwork because I just didn’t have the time or energy to deal with hanging it, in large part due to the fact it has been a very difficult year for me emotionally.

Just in time for the New Year – the hilarious whiskerslist boxed calendar!

Wow. Well, that’s just not cool and I have to admit it was a wakeup call. I need a good dose of old-fashioned cat loving calendar use in my life and the whiskerslist calendar will be purrfect to help set the tone for the upcoming New Year. Created in a 365 day format and based on the wildly popular whiskerslist book that is a parody collection ala Craigslist of classified ads that our cats place online while us humans are not at home, this calendar is a satirical, imaginative, and highly creative piece of work. For example, here is hilarious sample from a page I randomly turned to (Monday, June 8):

Ad Title: who has straws???????!!!

i am almost out of straws and starting to feel REALLY ANXIOUS. only want the WRAPPED ones (i like to chew paper). i need some fast. like today or tomorrow. am willing to pay handsomely (my human works at a grocery store. EMPTY BOXES of every size are easy to come by). contact me asap. like now. seriously.

Whiskerslist

Oh yes… caught in the act… cats do place ads on whiskerslist when we are not home!

Not only is that FUNNY, but I have to give Angie major props for writing it. Just typing that one excerpt was a major nightmare for me, as my computer does not speak cat language (which is really odd when you think about it) and insisted on capitalizing every sentence, so I can only imagine how hard it was to type and proofread this calendar!

I have decided to bring the calendar to work so that for the next 365 days I have a reason to smile and laugh and vow that I will hang up my 2015 wall calendar that I got from the CWA on my office wall by March, or possibly April at the latest. As far as the kitchen calendar, since it is hanging from a hook on a cabinet door that is closed, chances are high that I will never remember to take it down or replace it…

rolz-smile

A very wise message from Rolz and the purr-fect way to do that is with a daily smile from the whiskerslist calendar!

Anyhow, for those of you that would like to win a whiskerslist calendar for your home or office (sorry, U.S. residents only), just leave a comment why you would love to have this calendar by midnight EST, Monday, December 22nd and the winner will be announced on Wednesday, December 24th. Wish I had reviewed this calendar a bit earlier for you, but hey, better late than never, right? You can also purchase one, two, or more if you like – just click here for details!

Thank you again to Angie for the fun giveaway – I was not in any way compensated for this review, but the kick in the butt she gave me to stop, slow down, and enjoy life was invaluable.
