It’s Snowtime!

Snow is what the humans call the white powdery cold pieces that float down from the sky, landing on anything and everything,  The pieces seem to gather together and cover things that aren’t used to being covered, like the lawn, driveway, and trees.  Sometimes the humans have to go outside and move the pieces because they’ve gotten in the way.  Other times, the pieces just go away on their own.

Even though I look out the window often, and pay very close attention to everything, I never see the pieces go!  They always leave when I’m not watching!

It snowed today in Boston.  As I watched it come down, I decided that I wanted to go outside in it- while it was coming down.  I had been allowed to go out in snow last year, once or twice, but that was a long time ago.  Besides, the snow had already fallen when I walked on it… I wanted the snow to land on me!

The humans decided that it was OK, so I was strapped into my jacket and allowed out.

Snow feels cold under my paws, but not cold enough to deter me from walking in it!

One thing I did notice was that there weren’t any squirrels out in the snow.  Or birds.  Or any other animals for that matter… Just myself, and a few humans.  Sean was out with me holding my leash, but I met two other humans while I was out.  A big one and a small one.  They walked by the front yard, on the other side of the fence.  I noticed them coming, and ran over to say hello.  I like humans.

After a few trips around the yard, I got a little bored.  None of the usual attractions, living or otherwise, seem to like the snow.  I hid in the bushes for a few minutes, hoping to spot a bird flying by, or a bee.  Nothing flew by.

I sat in the middle of the yard, taking everything in… the cold, the snow, the gray sky.  The quiet.  Other than the snow falling, everything seemed still.  It was very cool, no pun intended

I took one last run out the driveway, and it was time to go back inside.  Sean removed my jacket and brushed the snow remnants off of my fur while I thought about lunch.  It’s supposed to snow again tomorrow, and I’m looking forward to it.  Hopefully some of the squirrels are looking forward to it also.

Happy Holidays to everyone!

As an update to this post, I just wanted to let everyone know that because of Zeuss Catt’s friendly nature and love of people and snow, he made his local newspaper! They did a feature story on his utube video link that you all just got to watch – the one called “Humans like snow, too…”

I love that video too, Zeuss! You are so just happy and excited to see those humans – especially the little boy!
