Zee and Zoey’s Review and Giveaway for Purrk! Playful Cat Toys! #felinesilvervine
This post is sponsored by Vitakraft and the BlogPaws Professional Pet Blogger Network. I am being compensated for helping spread the word about Purrk! Playfuls, but Zee and Zoey’s Chronicle Connection only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. Vitakraft is not responsible for the content of this article.
When I heard from BlogPaws that Vitakraft was looking for cat bloggers to review their Purrk! Playfuls line of toys, I have to admit I was hesitant to respond at first. After all, my gang already has mountains of toys, not to mention their perennial favorites such as wadded up balls of paper, human toes, and dead bugs. Was there really anything new on the market that could pique their interest?
After researching Vitakraft, a German based enterprise founded in 1837 that was the first company to introduce Feline Silvervine to the United States, I realized that maybe there was, because believe it or not, my cats had never tried Silvervine and I had always wondered what the hoopla was all about.
In case you don’t know about Silvervine, it’s a 100% all natural, non-toxic product that comes from the Silvervine plant found in Asia. It’s similar to catnip in concept, but, according to a recent study by the University of Illinois, it’s far more enticing to cats with results showing 3 out of 4 them preferring Silvervine over catnip and engaging with it 2.5 longer than they do with catnip!
Hmmm… I have 7 cats so I couldn’t wait to see how my cats would skew that study, but if the reaction I got from them the day their Purrk! Playfuls Deep Sea Bug toy arrived was any indication, those scholars were definitely on to something because I barely had the toy out of the packaging before they went bonkers and once I sprinkled it with the fresh Silvervine that is included with the toy, all I can tell you is that I have never seen anything like it with my cats before. Honestly, the reaction they had to the Silvervine was like having a front row seat at a 3-ring circus! Jazmine and Kizmet were wrestling in one ring, Peanut was doing full length body stretches in hers, and Zee was rolling around in another!

After sprinkling a small bit of the Silvervine on the floor, Kizmet and Jazmine react by spending at least fifteen minutes wrestling together while Peanut sniffs the Deep Sea Bug with great interest.

Kerplop! And just like that, Peanut is overcome with the happy effects of the Silvervine and rolls around on the floor playing with the toy!

When Peanut is finally done playing with the Deep Sea Bug, our senior cat, Zee, takes over the toy and enjoys the Silvervine sensation!
The playtime lasted far longer than any session I had seen with catnip and at one point Jazmine was so enthralled that she was completely rolling over like a well trained dog (see video to follow) and nearly a half hour later, playtime finally ended after Kizmet captured the Deep Sea Bug like some prized prey possession and proceeded to carry it to the couch – his favorite place to bring his kill!
So, all in all, I would absolutely recommend the Purrk! Deep Sea Bug toy enhanced with Silvervine and I love the fact that from my younger kitties, Jazmine and Kizmet, to my eldest Zee at 9, everyone enjoyed the Silvervine and had a wonderful time exercising, playing, and bonding together.

For Kizmet, of all the toys in the world, anything with a pom pom is his favorite, so he is thrilled that the furry Deep Sea Bug has a pom pom on the top of the toy! The Deep Sea Bug is constructed of a soft plush material in a spiral shape and is about 5″ long. After play, it expands to about 8″ and is a perfect size and weight for kitty to easily carry as Kizmet demonstrates!

Like a proud hunter providing for his family, Kizmet drops the Deep Sea Bug onto the couch and presents it to his true love, Jazmine, for her praise and approval.

This is one happy kitty who gives the Purrk! Deep Sea Bug Toy 5 paws up for enrichment and enjoyment!
My only concern, I did not feel comfortable with the small bell that is adhered to the top of the toy. While it seems nearly impossible to come apart, my cats can be tough on toys – especially our chewer, Jazmine, and I fear she could ingest the bell and choke on it. So, when we play with this toy, it will be supervised, and when we are done, it will go somewhere safe that kitty cannot get to.

My cats love catnip, for about five minutes. I’d love to see if this product could prolong the fun for them!
Wow, that sure looks like fun! We like the ‘vine very much. Very much, indeed!
I have never had silvervine yet!
Now that my cat has to stay indoors for the winter I’m looking for anything she can get her mitts on for entertainment. Would love to try it out!
Both of my boys love catnip – so I would love so see their reaction to silvervine!
Loved your post. Wishing ALL of you the merriest of Christmas’s! 🙂
Oh my word that is just amazing! I bet my kitties would love this!
Truffles can’t wait to try Silvervine!
I don’t know if the directions told you but Silvervine is to be used sparingly. One pinch is all that’s needed. I was the first spokescat for Silvervine years ago. I secured it for Nip & Bones which was the first U.S. distributor selling Silvervine toys in the U.S. I’m glad your crew enjoyed it. I can always use some more Silvervine. Here I’m playing with my Silvervine pillow from Nip & Bones. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aqg8S0KY0-o&feature=youtu.be
