Local Pet Blessing Event a Great Success!!

Myself and Commissioner Dressler talking about Zee and Zoey's book

Hey everyone! We had a great time this past Saturday at the Pet Blessing Event we attended at Gary B. Jones Park for People and Pups in Tamarac on behalf of Family Central and local rescue shelters! Dan was there as official photographer, my Mom was there as the Mayor in charge,  and I was there in cat ears, as promised, helping to raise money for the cause as well as to promote Zee and Zoey’s upcoming book!

We got to see dogs of every size, color, and shape you can imagine, as well as their human owners who were also in every color, size, and shape you can imagine! Yes, there is some truth to the statement that some pets look like their owners… The park itself is awesome – if you have a dog and live near Tamarac, you should definitely stop by and check it out. It has run/play areas specifically designed for our canine friends – one area is for small dogs, the other is for dogs over 25 pounds. It was such a treat to see all the dogs interact – they literally beam with joy and you can actually see them smiling as they run from one dog to the next to say “hello” to one another. And believe it or not, they all actually get along! The little dogs are the best to watch – they all think they are the size of a German Shepherd and have no concept whatsoever of their little girth!

Speaking of Shepherd’s, the Broward Sheriff’s Office brought a couple K-9’s, in particular, Dunkin (yes, after the coffee) and put on a K-9 demonstration which was so amazing to watch. These dogs are just so intelligent, regal, and beautiful.

There were also several pet blessings where everyone gathered their dog in a group and a special pet blessing was given in their honor by Reverend Ileana Castillo-Roman. Our friend Phyllis who donated some gorgeous handcrafted floral lamp arrangements that she made for the raffles was also there –she was the only soul brave enough to bring her cat, Seymour, for the blessing. Seymour was not thrilled and definitely wanted to “See-Less.” The rest of the event was a great success as well – several large bins were filled to the brim with donated people and pet food items for Family Central and local shelters, money was raised from raffles, and also of great note, a couple of puppies were adopted for their forever homes from the Humane Society of Broward County!!! I would say, all in all, a very successful day indeed.

All ready to be blessed!

It was a great pleasure meeting everyone who stopped by to say hello – all of us at ZeeZoey Partners were so honored to be a part of such a wonderful event! A big thank you to all the volunteers for their hard work and an even bigger thank you to all of you who so generously gave of your time and money. Enjoy the pictures!!

No time limit for friends – you are welcome any time it is convenient for you! It really was a lot of fun and it feels good to help people and animals out when we can. We are very blessed and grateful for all we have. Wish you lived in Florida too! But, since you don’t, we’ll have to make a point of trying to meet one day. Yes, I do look like my Mom!! XOXO
