Writing and Publishing – How It All Began: My Interview with Goodnewsforpets.com

Cats and computers… yeah, that would about sum me up. Add chocolate and coffee and we can call it a day. Seen here, I am with Kizmet along with my sweet angel cat, Harley.
I think it would be safe to assume that you all know I am a cat lover. Perhaps fanatic would be the better word, but regardless, some of you might not know the background story as to how my love of cats evolved into me becoming an author, award winning blogger, and publisher.
In case you missed it over the holiday weekend, please visit goodnewsforpets.com to read my behind the scenes interview I share with them that answers these questions and more (just click the website link – it will direct you to the interview). The interview is part of a series in conjunction with the Cat Writers’ Association panel I will be part of, along with talented cohorts, holistic cat expert and award-winning blogger and photographer, Layla Morgan Wilde of Cat Wisdom 101; writer, photographer, and Editor of CatInTheFridge, Alana Grelyak; and award-winning blogger, editor, and author, Janiss Garza of Sparkle Cat, entitled “Bridging the Gap Between Bloggers and Journalism.”
For all of you pondering your love of cats and writing (or any other cat related venue for that matter), wondering if there is a career in the wait for you, I hope you will consider taking a minute or two to read the interview – I think you will come to the conclusion that if I was able to turn my passion into something I love doing – writing about cats – you’ll be able to do the same!

This was me back in 2009 when I decided my lack of expertise and experience was not going to stop me from following my dreams – writing and publishing a book about my cats and starting a blog to talk about that process!
I also think you will also come away with a better understanding of why organizations such as the Cat Writers’ Association and BlogPaws are so invaluable to helping make those life-changing dreams come true (it’s not too late to register for BlogPaws if you want to attend). And if you don’t have time to read the interview, I will end this post by sharing this tidbit of advice that I wrap the interview up with – those life-changing dreams should NEVER be held back because of your age, lack of training, or someone standing in your way, closing doors on you. If you want something bad enough, it’s about goals, strength, perseverance, determination, figuring it out, putting one foot forward, finding new doors to open, and good old-fashioned roll up your sleeves, don’t give up, hard work!
Have a wonderful mid-week all and hope to see you back on Caturday where I will be sharing some of my typical reflective thoughts relating to life and cats!
Excellent interview Deb; I enjoyed reading it and was reminded of a certain “Dr Seuss”
when you said, never give up. His first children’s book was rejected 27 times before
finally being picked up….purrhaps it would have been a rhyme less world…had he said
right then, eh….forgetaboutit ~~~~ and moved on to something else ♥♥
I’m glad you enjoyed the interview, tabbies. And yes, what a great point about Dr. Seuss and not giving up. Thank you for sharing that bit of wisdom!
I really loved the photo with Harley in your lap, and you and Jazmine.
Can’t leave out you at the table with Jazz laying in front of you.
You are an excellent writer, you deserve to win the award in my opinion!!
Thank you Connie! You are so sweet for saying that!
Mum and us loved to read your interview, Deb ! Change your life is a hard work (and you need some money here and there to sustain the change process…), but if you really want it as you said, it’s possible ! Purrs
Happy Birthday to Zoey!!!!
The interview was very interesting. Perseverance is the key to success in any endeavor, Scylla taught me that when as a wee kitten she spent all day trying to jump into the kitchen chair, only stopping for brief rest when she was exhausted. By the end of the day she was in the chair.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY (^‿^)✿
Happy Birthday Zoey! I will check out that interview.
We enjoyed the interview Deb.
We hope this is right : Happy Birthday Zoey!
Loved the interview as you know. And stopped by to wish dear Zoey a purrfect birthday.
