Cat Product Holiday Review/Giveaway Series: Cat-A-Pole

The lovely Kate Benjamin of Moderncat demonstrating the Cat-A-Pole

I first saw the Cat-A-Pole interactive wand toy at the Catification Lounge sponsored by Jackson Galaxy of My Cat From Hell and Kate Benjamin of Moderncat when I went to the BlogPaws Conference in June  and I was instantly intrigued by the ingenious simplicity of it. I guess cat experts agree, because it was featured in the December issue of Cat Fancy as one of the “Best Products of the Year.”

Cat-A-Pole

The Cat-a-pole looks like a fishing pole and is designed to create a wild and unpredictable motion that is irresistible to cats. It features a pom pom and feather toy on the end that flits about like a mouse when you drag it across the floor or like a bird when it zips through the air. This is all well and good, but what do my feline experts think of the Cat-A-Pole? We were given one to try out when we hosted Zee & Zoey’s Cat Ruler of the World Contest and Campaign for a Cause and the answer was a resounding meow of support!

When I took the toy out of the packaging tube it came in, Peanut practically wept tears of joy and could not wait to play with it. Zoey took her traditional hunting stance and carried it around the house like it was fresh prey she had just killed. Okay, not the most glamorous marketing slogan, but it’s true!

I think the best way to extoll the virtues of the Cat-A-Pole, however, is with visual evidence. Kitshka, one of the sweet kitties of “Texas, A Cat in New York,” was one of the prize winners of a Cat-A-Pole from the Cat Ruler Contest. She went so head over heels crazy for it, that the video that was taken of her playing with it is featured on the Cat-A-Pole site! Check it out… Kizmet has some competition in the cuteness department!!

The best news, just in time for holiday gift giving, Cat-A-Pole is giving one toy away to a lucky reader. Just leave a comment about why your kitty would love this toy and make sure to include your email when you submit the comment so I can contact you if you win! The giveaway is for U.S. residents only… sorry… and the contest ends on Tuesday, December 4th at midnight, PST, and the winner will be announced on Thursday, December 6th.

Cat-A-Pole is a fantastic way to incorporate important interactive play and bonding time with your cat(s) and is affordable at under $20.00. Replacement mouse-bird parts are available if you have a rough and tough gang like I do and the Cat-A-Pole does not use dangerous string that can get tangled around the cat or the furniture for attaching the toy. The toy is attached to a long thin plastic tube which is what creates the fun and unpredictable motion.

I know all of my guys would love this, but especially Mr. Abraham-he’s the ‘hunter’ in our house. Maybe if I had this to play with him-he would stop killing my socks! Unfortunately even though it looks like an amazing toy-I’m afraid the rolls of toilet paper will still be at risk of attack… Great giveaway-i really like the length of the toy, I think it would allow multiple cats to get involved, the smaller pole toys don’t have a wide enough play area for more than 1 or 2 cats to get into the action. Thank you & good luck everyone!

  2. Cody would love to win this because he is OBSESSED with ANYTHING hanging from a pole that “moves in wild unexpected movements”

  3. It is a great toy and still Kitshka’s favorite toy! She is crazy about it!
(of course, please don’t enter me in the contest)

I think Thunder would like this, but he can be so fickle. I know my sister’s cat, Stormy, would go crazy over it. If I won it, I would give it to Stormy.

  5. Cheysuli says:

I wonder if I would like that as much as da bird? Hmm…

  6. Marg says:

That does look like such a fun toy. There are many many kitties here that would love to have that. Take care.

  8. Wendy S. says:

My girls used to love to go outside to look at the birds when I lived in my old house. But now that I’m in an apt. they can’t go outside. I think this toy would make them so happy because they could play and pretend they’re great birdie hunters.

  9. Connie Marie says:
