Deb Goes to the Dogs for Pedigree’s “Write a Post, Help a Dog” Campaign
Being the quintessential cat lady, I have kept this information well-guarded, but the cat is out of the bag now and I must admit I like dogs. Not only do I like dogs, I LOVE THEM. Up until a few years ago when my dear Bandit passed away, the last remaining survivor of my dog legacy, I have had a revolving door of dogs that would make your head spin. With the exception of my Golden Retriever, Bailey, all were rescues and my home was an open door to any canine that cared to wander in.
You can read about it in more detail in my book, but since the day I turned 18 and moved out on my own, these were the dogs in my life: Murphy, an Old English Sheepdog; Snoopy, an apricot colored Poodle; Bo, a mixed breed German Shepherd; Bailey, a sweet Golden Retriever; Bandit an alpha male Heinz 57 dog; Hobo, a Terrier; Meadow, a strong willed Miniature Pincher; and Lexi, a horse sized red colored Retriever. Very rarely did I only have one dog in my life, I typically had several dogs and cats at the same time, as well as other assorted creatures such as bunnies, hamsters, fish, guinea pigs, and frogs…

Bailey was my sweet Golden Retriever and the dog love of my life. Tragically, she died at only two years of age due to cancer.
Our eldest cat Jazz has grown up with several of these dogs and Zee, Zoey, and Harley also have to a much lesser extent. The kittens – Mia, Peanut, and Rolz – have no clue what a dog is, but I daresay they would not react favorably to these typically loud, smelly, and slobbery creatures!

Peanut, Mia, and Rolz want to make this clear - we can help Pedigree to feed shelter dogs, but in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS IS THIS A DOG BLOG!!! Got it?!!
So, long story short, going to BlogPaws was amazing for two reasons that were not related to cats – I got to love and hug lots of dogs and I learned about an opportunity by Pedigree Brand to help feed shelter dogs. All I had to do was write a blog post by June 30th that mentioned Pedigree’s commitment to helping shelter dogs and one 17-lb bag of Pedigree Dry Dog Food would be donated to a shelter in need! Wow!! How fantastic is that? I get to sit at my computer which I am already glued to 24/7, type a few words, throw in some pictures, and I am helping a deserving dog just like that!!
The campaign ends today at midnight, so if you have not put up a post of your own yet, you still have time. Please read this great post by “To Dog with Love” for details. Also, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A DOG BLOGGER to participate – anyone who blogs and has a love and compassion for animals can help!

We love dogs here too. We have two dogs and the cats love them to death. All of the cats snuggle with the dogs. Good for you to do this with Pedigree so that a shelter can get a bag of food. That is so sad about your Golden Retriever. Have a great week end.
We don’t have any woofies here but there used to be two of them before I came. I think doggies are terrific! Thanks for helping them out!
LOVE that pic. Please stop by again. We had a tech glitch.
I think it’s wonderful that your felines have allowed you to blog about doggies. I love dogs too and have had so many wonderful dogs in my past too. So glad that Pedigree is helping dogs who really need it.
so glad to see that you have FINALLY come out of the closet Deb! lol
As Jackson Galaxy says (in describing himself, but it is appropriate for those of us like you and I that LOVE cats, also love dogs and own or have owned one)………..we are “bi-petual!!!”
xoxoxo
LOL Caren – at this stage in my life, what do I care?!! I’m bringing out all the skeltons! It’s funny though, I posted this and got an email from one of my subscribers that they wanted to “unsubscribe” from my blog!! I don’t know who the person is, but I guess they really DON’T like dogs!! Can’t please everyone, can you??!!!!!
Loved your post and your pics! Thanks so much for spreading the word. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong at all with being bi-petual! hee hee!
Your pals,
Diane and Cosmo
thank you for caring about dogs too….and for all the wonderful work you do on behalf of animals..sending appreciative purrrrrs
Even thought I don’t currently have a dog in my home, I love them too! Long before my daughter was born, we had two cats and two dogs. She has always had at least one dog in her life, and we still take care of her father’s dog when he is away.
