Caturday Sunshine – An Eternal Ray of Hope
Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy, sunshine in my eyes can make me cry.

Harley always reminded me of sunshine with her mottled fur coat and golden/green eyes – a beautiful mixture of tortoiseshell and calico cat with a sweet white bib and mittens. She is gone, but she will always be my special ray of sunshine and for that I am grateful.
I am also grateful for all of you. The respects you paid to me on Wednesday, the one-year anniversary of Harley’s passing was overwhelming. Your love, support, and compassion made a very painful day one that was actually uplifting and beautiful. So rather than dwell on the sadness, I wanted this Caturday to be a day of celebration.
Harley loved sunbeams, as do all my cats. What a better why to celebrate her memory than to share sunbeam pictures? Have a lovely day all and thank you again for helping me get through a very difficult day.

Jazmine – our newest addition, surely is a ray of sunshine like Harley. From her beautiful golden fur coat to her cheerful disposition, she is an absolute joy and radiates warmth and love.
Zoey loves to seek out the sun in the cloak of quiet secretiveness. I think she believes that if she hides behind the blinds, that we can’t see her…
We very rarely let the cats outside, and when we do, it is completely supervised in our fenced in yard. For Rolz, nothing in the world makes him happier than feeling the glorious warmth of the natural sun on his fur.
Kizmet looking ever so regal as he enjoys the best of both worlds – the coolness of the tile on his belly, coupled with the warmth of a sunbeam on his back.
Peanut enjoys the sunshine in the most traditional way a cat does – while taking a glorious nap!

One final note – I was supposed to announce the winner of our Scratch‘n Shapes, Adopt-a-Cat Scratcher Donation Program from Imperial Cat giveaway on Wednesday, but I must admit with my emotional state regarding Harley that I completely forgot. I sincerely apologize and am very happy to announce that the winner is The Swiss Cats. What makes this win so special, is that if they were chosen to win, they asked that the scratchers be donated to the New Rochelle Humane Society on behalf of Layla Morgan Wilde of Cat Wisdom 101. As most of you probably already know, Layla had taken in Radish, a New Rochelle shelter cat who had lost nearly all of his nine lives and she was trying with all her positive might to will him back to health. Sadly, he crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 18th. We know the scratchers can’t bring him back, but we are happy to know that in some small way, in his memory, that other shelter cats will be able to be the tiniest bit happier and healthier by having these scratchers in their life.
Lastly, what wonderful news to hear the Supreme Court has ruled in favor of same-sex marriage nationwide. I am surrounded by so many people – family, friends, colleagues and more that deserve this respect. #LoveWins. May this please be the start of a kinder, gentler, and more accepting and tolerant world.
If there’s anything more beautiful than a cat in the sun, I don’t know what is. The photo of Harley in particular is spectacular.

Congrats to the Swiss Cats…that’s a nice thing for them to give the prize to Layla’s shelter.
Harley was a beautiful girl! How nice of the Swiss Cats to donate to the New Rochelle Human Society. I used to live in New Rochelle, and even though I’m in NYC now, I still consider it a local shelter since it’s only about 30 minutes away.
Special memories can help warm the heart.
I’m very much into the sunshine, myself. A warm sunpuddle is a puddle full of bliss.

Oh, Deb….love these pictures! My little Manhattan used to chase sunbeams when she was a feral. To this day, she is fascinated by sun and moon beams…and she does enjoy sitting in the window and soaking up sunshine. The only one who doesn’t get into the window sills is Coco, but she will stretch out on the floor to get her dose. Thanks for sharing something for us to celebrate in Harley’s memory. It’s so important that we remember how much they loved their life with us….peace…

Unfortunately we have a North view and only see sun until about 9 a.m. I have to go behind the blinds to lay in the sun. Those are beautiful photos. Concats to the generous Swiss Cats.
