How Cats Interpret the Days of the Week
The Happy Day’s/Leave it to Beaver world where dad would go off to work and mom would stay at home to raise the kids and keep the house in order are long gone. Our lives are no longer dictated by traditional male/female roles and neither is our work schedule. 9 to 5 is a time frame that applies to some people in a work sense, but for many more, they work evenings, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
So, when we say TGIF in reference to looking forward to a Saturday and Sunday weekend, that phrase doesn’t really apply to everyone anymore – one person’s Friday could be another person’s Tuesday and that is why cats are so brilliant. Seriously, they truly are so much more ahead of us in the intelligence curve because when you look at their behavior, it seems they have known all along that every day could be the opportunity for a TGIF moment for someone and that is why they have perfected the art of relaxation pretty much 24/7.
In honor of that mindset, please allow my cats to demonstrate that point with a more modern approach to interpreting the days of the week (and please click images to enlarge):

Round and round we go… looking at this picture of Mia can make you dizzy, but she sure is cozy as can be!

Zoey back in her kitten days – she shares a moment with Harley and has the act of relaxation down to a perfect science!
So what do you think? Should we follow the lead of our feline friends and make everyday TGIF?!!
In case you missed it, you still have time to enter a comment to win a prize in two giveaways we are currently running. We have an opportunity for one lucky reader to win a FURminator deShedding tool for their cat or dog (click here for contest details) and we also have an opportunity for FIVE readers to win TWO designer pet feeding bowls of their choice from the Milano Collection by Loving Pets (click here for details).

These are only two of the incredible designs in the Milano Collection you can chose from if you win a feeding bowl for your pet from Loving Pets!
And as a reminder, the Pettie nominations are still in full swing (click here to vote). If you care to nominate us, you can vote once a day until June 30th and these are the categories we are suggesting:

I think those descriptions are totally tabby spot on!
Confirms it….I want to be a cat in my next life. (is it nap time yet?)
Your cats are totally true. Purrs
What a cute post. Always love your photos.
Hey, we like your way of identifying the days of the week. Keep up the good work… uh, rest.
I’m in TOTAL agreement with you ’bout the days of the week thing. EVERY day is a day for rest and relaxation for cats.
Of course, I do keep track of Sundays on account of the PBS shows the peeps enjoy. Peeps bein’ held captive by the Theater of the Masters mean extra tummy tickles and chin scritches, if you know what I mean. Very important to know when a Sunday is comin’ up so as not to miss out.
MOUSES! Just realized… Sunday is tomorrow. Better go write that down.
Purrs,
Nissy
I definitely think that we should learn from our cats what is important. Looks like they have it all just right. You all have a great day.
Just beautiful!! Austin’s week is like that too, but not so photographically stunning!! xx
Those photos are beautiful. I envy the way cats can just collapse in a relaxed pile.
Yep, that looks about right. 😉
