{"id":8725,"date":"2013-02-16T05:50:16","date_gmt":"2013-02-16T10:50:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zeezoey.com\/blog\/?p=8725"},"modified":"2013-02-15T11:08:47","modified_gmt":"2013-02-15T16:08:47","slug":"standing-room-only","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zeezoey.com\/blog\/standing-room-only\/","title":{"rendered":"Standing Room Only &#8211; An Ovation to Cats!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When it comes to cats, they are all wonderfully unique, but there are some habits or characteristics attributed to them that most of us can relate too in one degree or another when it comes to our own feline babies. Since I have eight cats, rather than focus on one in particular, I have devised a generic \u201c24 hour typical day\u201d that provides an average composite of all of them. And please note, this is all subject to change. By the time I publish this post, their habits could have changed completely. That\u2019s just how it is with a cat\u2026 once you think you\u2019ve figured them out, they go and change things up on you! <!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>A TYPICAL 24 HOURS AT ZEE &amp; ZOEY\u2019S HOUSE:<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">16.5 Hours \u2013<\/span><\/strong> Time spent napping (some call it reflecting, others call it time for a cat to further plot to rule the world, and some just call it laziness)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>45 Minutes \u2013<\/strong><\/span> Time spent engaged in either heavy eating, grazing, or begging for treats. This also includes swishing paw in water dish and making general overall mess.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>30 Minutes \u2013<\/strong> <\/span>Randomly running, for no apparent reason from one end of the room to the other. Could possibly include jumping on the counter or table and scolding from humans.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">15 Minutes \u2013<\/span><\/strong> Time spent trying to capture that darn elusive red dot\u2026 we&#8217;re getting so close\u2026<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>1 Hour \u2013<\/strong> <\/span>Time spent following human(s) about the house. It could include tripping them as they walk, helping with household chores, such as making the bed, or trying to escape between their legs to go outside, even though we are not allowed&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>2 Hours \u2013<\/strong><\/span> Time outside of naptime spent cuddling with human. This could occur while they are on the computer, sitting on the couch, or even when they are on the toilet or trying to eat dinner. Whatever makes most sense at the time and is most inconvenient for the human is preferable.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>30 Minutes \u2013<\/strong> <\/span>Time spent trying to open closed doors, drawers, or cabinets. There is no reason for this, other than, \u201cif it is closed, it must be open.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">40 Seconds \u2013<\/span><\/strong> Attacking toe monsters under the bed covers.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>1 Hour \u2013<\/strong><\/span> Wistfully (well, more like catatonically) watching birds out the window and wondering (quite innocently) why you can\u2019t invite them in for lunch\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">1 Hour \u2013<\/span><\/strong> Using the litter box. Again, and again, and again. Why does the human keep scooping it if we are not to use it again?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>20 Seconds \u2013<\/strong> <\/span>Experiencing a random scare that gives you instantaneous \u201cpoofy tail.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">30 Seconds \u2013<\/span><\/strong> Discovery of a box \u2013 must climb inside\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">25 Seconds \u2013<\/span><\/strong> Hacking up a strategically placed hairball for human to step on\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">15 Seconds \u2013<\/span><\/strong> Standing in a perfectly poised position for no apparent reason whatsoever out of the clear blue.<\/p>\n<p>It is the last 15 seconds that I am most fascinated with. Why is it that a cat all of a sudden just stops whatever they are doing to strike a pose and stand in perfect position?
