When Dan and I first started dating, many moons ago, his first knock on the door to pick me up was probably a bit unnerving to say the least. A loud chorus of four dogs barked to let me know he had arrived and three cats scattered to find shelter from this very tall and imposing man who was a stranger to them. Sadly, I no longer have any of these dogs, as they have passed over the Rainbow Bridge, \u00a0and the only surviving cat of the original three is my Ragdoll, Jazz.<\/p>\n

I love Dan for many reasons, especially the compassion he has for animals. Here he is shown with Bandit. Bandit is no longer with us, but he and Dan had a great bond together!<\/p><\/div>\n

That he did not turn around and\u00a0run that very second is impressive in and of itself. I mean seriously, just how many men are looking for a single mom with seven pets as a serious dating candidate? \u00a0But not only did it turn out that he fell in love with me, but he fell in love with my entire furry gang as well. Now, over 10 years later, Dan’s life has done a 360 degree turn. He has long since moved in with me and now we are the proud parents of our seven beloved feline babies. All of the collectibles that we picked out together to decorate our house with have been packed away so that the cats may have full run of the fireplace mantle and bookshelves.\u00a0Dan’s very expensive exercise equipment has been relegated to a very unique cat scratching post and we have not slept comfortably in our own bed in over a decade.<\/p>\n

Despite all that, Dan is truly blessed and has never been happier. He is a work at home feline Dad and these cats are his companions. Each cat gives him a bit of their own unique personality and special time that is reserved just for him and I know he loves them with all of his heart. A personality that once may have been upset over cat hair on his camera or not being able to sleep in any more, is replaced by a man who is at peace, calm, and centered. And this is because not only do real men love cats, but because cats love real men.<\/p>\n
