\nI may have lost my desire to learn how to drive, but I still have a strong appreciation for motor vehicles.\u00a0 Sometimes I sit in the front window for hours watching the various cars and trucks pass our house.\u00a0 The humans, sharp creatures that they are, noticed my automobile affinity and came up with a wonderful idea…<\/p>\n

For the past few weeks I’ve been joining them on their Sunday drives to the pet store!\u00a0<\/p>\n

This new Sunday custom began for me in early October.\u00a0 Just like every other day, one of the humans grabbed my leash and vest, signalling to me that it was time to go outside into the backyard.\u00a0 I allowed myself to get suited up and waited for the door to open.\u00a0 As I waited I noticed that not only one, but TWO humans would be joining me on my walk.\u00a0 The more the merrier is what I always say, at least when it comes to humans.\u00a0 What I didn’t notice was that one of them was holding a set of truck keys.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Out we went, but instead of running onto the grass per usual we headed over to the driveway.\u00a0 One of the vehicles parked there was the truck in which I took my brief driving lesson.\u00a0 The door was being held open for me so I jumped right into the back seat.\u00a0 Both humans got in as well and closed the doors behind them.<\/p>\n

What’s going on here, I thought?\u00a0 And then I heard the truck start up.<\/p>\n

We were going for a ride!\u00a0 And not to the vet’s office, but to the food store!<\/p>\n

The trip to the store only took ten minutes, but I loved every second.\u00a0 I stood in the back seat most of the time, watching traffic pass all around us.\u00a0 The truck is pretty tall, so I was able to look down onto many drivers.\u00a0 Some noticed me and waved, and I nodded back to them.\u00a0\u00a0 Some even laughed.\u00a0 NONE of the other vehicles had a cat passenger.<\/p>\n

\nThe only thing that I wasn’t allowed to do was stick my head out the window.\u00a0 (They told me that I wasn’t a dog, as if I didn’t know…)\u00a0 I\u00a0was allowed\u00a0to come into the front seat for a few minutes, standing on the arm rest.\u00a0 When we arrived at the the store, I decided to wait in the car, and one of the humans waited with me while the other went inside.\u00a0 For the ride home, I remained in the back seat.<\/p>\n

\nSo, that was the story of my first Sunday drive.\u00a0 Since then I’ve taken the ride to the pet store with the humans every other Sunday, and I’ve shown them that I’m very comfortable riding in the truck.\u00a0 So comfortable, in fact, that they treated me to another “first” this past Sunday…<\/p>\n
