Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy, sunshine in my eyes can make me cry.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Sunshine on the water looks so lovely, sunshine almost always makes me high.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

If I had a tale that I could tell you, I’d tell a tale sure to make you smile.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

If I had a wish that I could wish for you, I’d make a wish for sunshine for all the while.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Harley always reminded me of sunshine with her mottled fur coat and golden\/green eyes – a beautiful mixture of tortoiseshell and calico cat with a sweet white bib and mittens. She is gone, but she will always be my special ray of sunshine and for that I am grateful.<\/p>\n

I am also grateful for all of you. The respects you paid to me on Wednesday<\/a>, the one-year anniversary of Harley\u2019s passing was overwhelming. Your love, support, and compassion made a very painful\u00a0day one that was actually uplifting and beautiful. So rather than dwell on the sadness, I wanted this Caturday to be a day of celebration.<\/p>\n

Harley loved sunbeams, as do all my cats. What a better why to celebrate her memory than to share sunbeam pictures? Have a lovely day all and thank you again for helping me get through a very difficult day.<\/p>\n

This was Harley in 2011. Everything about this picture makes me happy and it is the epitome of sunshine and good cheer.<\/p><\/div>\n

Jazmine – our newest addition, surely is a ray of sunshine like Harley. From her beautiful golden fur coat to her cheerful disposition, she is an absolute joy and radiates warmth and love.<\/p><\/div>\n

Zoey loves to seek out the sun in the cloak of quiet secretiveness. I think she believes that if she hides behind the blinds, that we can’t see her…<\/p><\/div>\n

\"4-sun.Rolz\"<\/a>

We very rarely let the cats outside, and when we do, it is completely supervised in our fenced in yard. For Rolz, nothing in the world makes him happier than feeling the glorious warmth of the natural sun on his fur.<\/p><\/div>\n

Kizmet looking ever so regal as he enjoys the best of both worlds – the coolness of the tile on his belly, coupled with the warmth of a sunbeam on his back.<\/p><\/div>\n

Peanut enjoys the sunshine in the most traditional way a cat does – while taking a glorious nap!<\/p><\/div>\n

A sunbeam while I nap on the top of this\u00a0cat condo… “Yes, please,” says Zee.<\/p><\/div>\n

One of the last pictures we have of Mr. Jazz. Here he was enjoying the late-afternoon sun to warm his tired bones…<\/p><\/div>\n

One final note – I was supposed to announce the winner of our Scratch\u2018n Shapes, Adopt-a-Cat Scratcher Donation Program from Imperial Cat<\/a> giveaway on Wednesday, but I must admit with my emotional state regarding Harley that I completely forgot. I sincerely apologize and am very happy to announce that the winner is The Swiss Cats<\/a>. What makes this win so special, is that if they were chosen to win, they asked that the scratchers be donated to the New Rochelle Humane Society<\/a> on behalf of Layla Morgan Wilde of Cat Wisdom 101<\/a>. As most of you probably already know, Layla had taken in\u00a0Radish, a New Rochelle shelter cat who had lost nearly all of his nine lives and she\u00a0was trying with all her positive might to will him back to health. Sadly, he crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 18th. We know the scratchers can’t bring him back, but we are happy to know that in some small way, in his memory, that other shelter cats will be able to be the tiniest bit happier and healthier\u00a0by having these scratchers in their life.<\/em><\/p>\n

Lastly, what wonderful news to hear the Supreme Court has ruled in favor of same-sex marriage nationwide. I am surrounded by so many people – family, friends, colleagues and more that deserve this respect. #LoveWins. May this please be the start of a kinder, \u00a0gentler, and more accepting and tolerant world.<\/em><\/p>\n
