Seen here is Jazmine posing next to my cherished recipe box. This box is nearly 30 years old and holds so many wonderful memories for me… and look… there is a kitty on the front of the box!<\/p><\/div>\n

I don\u2019t know about your house, but in ours, the upcoming Christmas holiday means cookies, cookies, and more cookies!! Over the years some cookies have remained tried and true favorites and as time has gone on and our family has expanded, it also means new recipes!<\/p>\n

But, whatever the case may be, one thing is for sure \u2013 my stepdaughter, Jackie, and my youngest son, Joe, will be flying in from up north to spend Christmas with us, so that means they will be put on cookie-making patrol with me and I can\u2019t wait!!<\/p>\n

Since my cats also enjoy cookie-making patrol (or should I say cookie-supervising patrol, and by cats, I, of course, mean Jazmine) I thought it would be a fun interactive post if we all shared our favorite cookie holiday recipe with one another (or, if you prefer to share a favorite yummy desert or snack, that would be fine as well).<\/p>\n

Jazmine has always been fascinated by my cooking and it truly seems that she should have her own cooking show! She is seen here with Jackie when we were making cookies last year.<\/p><\/div>\n

And remember that no matter how much begging, meowing, or whining occurs, and despite how irresistibly cute and persuasive your cat is,\u00a0absolutely no dough for kitty with raw eggs because that can cause salmonella. To be safe, it is best you don\u2019t let kitty partake in any of your desert tasting activities \u2013 just reward them with something like Temptations Treats for cats to let them know you appreciate their help!!<\/p>\n

Hope we get some great recipes and this is my contribution \u2013 my super, duper, decadent White Chocolate Chips with Macadamia Nuts and Walnuts:<\/p>\n

1 cup packed brown sugar<\/p>\n

\u00bd cup granulated sugar<\/p>\n

\u00bd cup softened butter<\/p>\n

\u00bd cup shortening<\/p>\n

1 teaspoon vanilla<\/p>\n

1 large egg<\/p>\n

2 \u00bc cups flour<\/p>\n

1 teaspoon baking soda<\/p>\n

\u00bd teaspoon salt<\/p>\n

\u00bd package (11 ounce bag) white chocolate chips (you can use more, but I like to use less to concentrate more on the nuts)<\/p>\n

\u00bd cup of coarsely chopped macadamia nuts<\/p>\n

\u00bd cup of coarsely chopped walnuts<\/p>\n

(I like this combo of nuts, but tend to use whatever I have in the house \u2013 pecans go great with the macadamia and so do cashews. Just have fun and go nuts!)<\/p>\n

  1. Heat oven to 350<\/li>\n
  2. In large bowl, beat sugars, butter, and shortening until creamy. Add vanilla and egg.<\/li>\n
  3. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt.<\/li>\n
  4. Add chips and nuts \u2013 mix all ingredients well.<\/li>\n
  5. On ungreased cookie sheet, drop dough by rounded tablespoons, about 2\u201d apart.<\/li>\n
  6. Bake about 10 to 12 minutes according to your preference. I like mine a bit softer, so I bake for about 10 minutes, but some like them brown and crisper.<\/li>\n
  7. Let them cool for a minute, then remove from cookie sheet.<\/li>\n
  8. Try one while still warm and ENJOY!!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
