As my series for the Hill\u2019s Science Diet<\/a> company comes to a close, if there is anything I have learned is that there is a huge variety of food options available for our cats and a wide opinion of what best to feed them. In my house, my cats are proverbial creatures of habit and that includes both the food they eat and the time they want it. Their schedule is so internally structured by them that I could set an alarm to their eating needs. 6:30 am is breakfast, 6:00 pm is dinner, and 9:00 pm is snack time. Food is both a means of sustenance to them as well as a strong component to the feline-human bond we share.<\/p>\n

While I clearly know that cats are not humans, it is hard not to draw connections to them and their behavior. The moment they wake up in the morning, they want fresh water and kibble. I want coffee and a doughnut. The only difference between us \u2013 what I feed them is healthy and nutritious and what I eat is anything but good for me.<\/p>\n

Hey! It’s almost time for dinner! Mom better be home soon!<\/p><\/div>\n

When I get home from work each evening, they are waiting by the door for me and it is hard to walk into the kitchen to put my purse down without tripping over a cat or two. The ritual begins \u2013 kibble mixed with special canned food geared towards their dietary needs. Every night is the same thing and it always reminds me of Thanksgiving dinner \u2013 the meal is something you look forward to all day long and then a split second later you are done eating it and the moment is over!<\/p>\n

Before bedtime is our favorite time.
