When Everyday is a Rainy Day Monday… Even on Caturday…

rainy-cats

Rain, rain go away… Us kitties are missing the sunshine, so please come again some other day…

A lot of the country is experiencing record heat waves, but for us in South Florida, it is the everyday occurrence of rain. And not just rain, but the rain of perpetually dark days that begin early in the morning, cloaking the rush hour drive to work in a veil of gloom and doom that continues on into the rush hour drive home at night and starts all over again the next day. The plants and lakes appreciate the downfall, but after awhile it can wear on your nerves. Even us easy going kitties can feel the effects, after all, we do our best napping in a warm and wonderful sun puddle. But, being the troopers we are, we will persevere and dream of brighter days to come…

We kitties are patient, but how many more days is it going to rain?

sunlight

Ah…. that glorious moment when dreams come true! That wonderful, beautiful, and warm spot of sunlight finally makes an appearance and Mia wastes no time claiming the precious gift as hers!

If you are experiencing a heat wave, we hope you stay safe and cool. Please keep yourself and your pets hydrated and limit your outdoor activities as much as possible. For those of you in the rain, try to stay dry. Maybe it’s just natures way of telling all of us to slow down, de-stress and catch up on a good old movie. Sounds like a great idea to me – what plans do you all have this weekend to survive the weather?

And as a reminder, don’t forget to vote for your favorite blogs for a Pettie and a chance for them to win $1000 for a rescue or shelter of  their choice! Zee and Zoey is up for “Best Designed Blog”-  voting is open until July 31st and you can vote once a day.

  1. Brian says:

I know, I know gang, we’ve been monsooning here all month!!!

  2. that’s just the price that some have to pay for living in a home that looks like PARADISE both inside and out! 🙂
The “cool off” is beginning here in Michigan today, we went from temps of 95 to 86 today, then 79 tomorrow. We had severe storms last night and more storms expected Mon and Tues.
You will have the last laugh when it is snowing for all of us 🙂

  3. Ingrid King says:

I’ll take our heat wave over gloomy grey days any day. Allegra and Ruby can relate to all of your cats’ blues – they get cranky when the sun puddles disappear for more than a day.

  4. Beverly says:

Deb, I just want to say that you take some of the most beautiful cat photos I’ve seen. Nice job. I am in one of those “heat wave” states and spending my time hibernating in the air conditioning.

    • Deb says:

Thank you Beverly – those stunning images are courtesy of my fiance, Dan, who is incredible with the camera. That, coupled with the fact the kitties love him so much and trust him implicitly, he is able to capture the true essence of who they are.

  5. We’re having a bunch of dreary rainy days that include those thunder boomers!

  6. I think your monsoon is heading our way today and paws crossed it will break the heat wave. Sending sunny thoughts 🙂

  7. Bernadette says:

We were pretty glad for the rain last night and this morning, and dark days are nice, but too many dark days summer or winter should be outlawed. Happy Saturday!

    • Deb says:

We agree with you, Bernadette. As it is, I am always signing petitions. How about one for better weather conditions across the country!

  8. Kitties Blue says:

We are finally free of the rain and all the flooded areas are back to normal, and tomorrow we are supposed to be free of the heat with highs next week in the 80s. It certainly has been a very strange summer. Hope you dry out soon. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  9. too bad Mom Nature doesn’t spread that rain around where we need it…in Calif we are back in drought conditions; high fire danger…not enough rain and snow this past Winter…and we almost never have rain in Summer…and we are also hot, hot, hot

    • Deb says:

It really is too bad Mother Nature can’t distribute the weather best where it is needed! We like how you think, Savannah!

  10. RumpyDog! says:

We are at the other end of the state, and it’s raining here too. In fact, Jen can make it rain just by thinking of mowing the yard!

    • Deb says:

Hmmm…our human’s have the same effect with outdoor barbecuing… just say the word and they can make it rain instantly!

  11. Doods, US TOO. Our dad was laughing at the accuweather forecast: “62% chance of rain today, 57% tonight.” Um, but wait ,what if it’s really sixty THREE percent?!?

  12. Kitshka says:

I would send you a little bit of sun if I could! Sun puddles are essential to a beautiful fur and a happy cat.

I also want to thank you for your birthday wishes for my purrthday, on Texas’ blog. I know I am terribly terribly late, and I apologize and so I send you plenty of purrs! And some virtual sun!

  13. It’s been real hot here on the island and we’ve been having thunderstorms but they don’t last long.. We sure hope your rain stops and you get some better weather.

  14. Bet the sun puddles were even better than normal after havin’ to wait for them like that.

    Purrs,
    Nissy

  15. Hi guys! LOVE the picture in the window–you look furry patient but doleful. I hope your rain stops and comes to visit us out here. We practically had a drought last winter!!! XOXOXO

  16. meowmeowmans says:

We hope all the rain you’re having makes the sunpuddles seem that much better (once you get some, of course). 🙂

    Voting every day, friends!

  17. MizzBassie says:

Those rainy days are the pits! We so look forward to the few moments of sun when it shows up. Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrs.

  19. Rain can be really depressing. Several decades ago I lived in Seattle for a year, and although I loved the area, the constant rain was just too much to bear. I am a Leo/Sun sign after all!! MOL. It gets pretty warm where I live now, so a little rain sounds good but too much of anything is NOT good! My motto is: moderation in all things…except cats.

Hey, I have started a new (personal) blog called Purr Therapy! Come visit me sometime! http://purrtherapyblog.blogspot.com/
