Sunny Seat and the Last Lazy Days of Summer

While seeing birds outside our window like this is an everyday occurance, the cats always find it new and exciting!

At our house, we have a lot of stuff – lots of cats, lots of windows, lots of birds, and lots of sun.  So, when a Sunny Seat sample arrived in the mail for Zee and Zoey, it wasn’t too hard to figure out why it was sent to them. The only real question was which of our seven cats would take to it first?

The seat itself is a relatively ingenious and simple concept – lightweight plastic tubing is the framework for a canvas bed and the fully assembled unit  attaches to  a window with four suction cups that can hold weight up to 50 pounds (yikes, that’s one big kitty). That’s all well and good, but before we could put the seat up, naturally I had to work my magic and turn the neutral colored Sunny Seat into the “Sunny Leopard Seat” as I designed a custom leopard pillow for the seat.

While the seat is built to hold up to 50 pounds of cat, I really am not completely comfortable with that concept. Our boy Zee is a big cat and I will admit that I am not encouraging him to nap on this product.

For those of you that are not crafty, don’t panic, it’s only my own personal obsession with leopard that necessitated me getting out the sewing machine out of storage. You don’t need a pillow for the Sunny Seat, or, if you do, you can buy some sort of padding at any pet store. Did the cats care about all of my extra effort? Not really, but it made me happy to pretend they did…

I must admit that when we first put the seat up, it was met with a mixed reaction, meaning no reaction. The carrier for the sewing machine was of far more interest to them, and being that it was not a box, paper bag, or wadded up piece of paper, the cats had to warm up to the idea of something foreign adhered to the window so we left them alone. Or, should I say, after we chased each one of them down and plunked them on the seat to watch them instantly jump off it, we left them alone. It’s always best to let a cat make up its own mind.

Sure enough, the next day without any warning whatsoever, there was Peanut snuggled up as cozy as can be on the Sunny Seat immersed in a deep, blissful sleep. The seat is positioned so that she gets a bird’s eye view of the birds and a bird’s eye view of Dan who works from home. They are best buddies, so I am sure she was in heaven and dreaming of the last sunny days of summer, although here in Florida, it is somewhat difficult to tell when one season ends and the other begins. The only real way we know fall is coming, is that school has started and the days are getting darker a bit earlier, but for Peanut,  none of that mattered other than she gives the Sunny Seat her paw print of approval!

We were not paid for this commentary and want to remind you that Sunny Seat is one of the many generous sponsors for Zee & Zoey’s First Annual Cat Ruler of the World Contest that we are hosting. Please be sure to stop back on Tuesday the 28th for our first scheduled debate with the Cat-idates and another chance to leave a comment on our blog for a chance to win your own Sunny Seat as well as a truckload more of pawsome prizes from our other amazing sponsors!!

Why, of course your Sunny Seat has a leopard print fleece on it :-)!

We liked the Sunny Seat. Like you, I was concerned about the weight claim, and with my two lightweights it was hard to test. I wound up bouncing an 18 pound bag of litter on it, and it help up nicely.

I love the views of your backyard!

  2. Cool! We’d love to win that seat.

  3. Christine says:

OMC! I want that seat! Hey I know where you live. Warning: cat burglars prowl your area!

The downside of living on 40th floor is there are not many birds flying this high but the few flying bugs that make it, is complete fascination for my kitties. They are in a trance!

Oh my kitties would absolutely love it! We are keeping paws crossed. Except for Mon Cherie the dog. She’s not thrilled because that’s one more place for them to escape that she can’t lick their ears–her fettish, no her obsession.

  4. Christine says:

There’s a debate? Awesome. We still haven’t voted. Can’t wait to see if Katie can hold back that sharp tongue and remain diplomatic. hee hee

    • Deb says:

Oh yes, Christine!! We have a debate and all kinds of great topics to follow on each Tuesday until voting opens on September 11th!! We want to make sure all the kitties have their platforms heard before people and kitties make their voting decisions!! We sure do have a contest in the works and I am so glad I don’t have to make the decision on my own – these sure are some great cats!!

I love that blissful photo of Peanut. I was going to put a sunny seat up but it just wouldn’t work with my blinds but fortunately I have large and thick enough window sills for the girls to sit on and meditate about life. I wish we were getting more feelings of Autumn in So. Cal but zip…except as you said, school has started for many kids around me. I can’t wait for Autumn and grey and stormy skies outside.

  6. We are in the process of moving into a new home and that Sunny Seat would make SUCH a welcoming gift for Legend and Tsunami! Peanut looks SO cozy there! Legend cannot figure out what is going on with all of the packing (but he definitely knows we are up to something… and neither of the boys are happy by our frequent absences these days as we work on getting the new environment up to kitty par!)

Can’t wait to see what will be rolling off the kitty truck over the next few days!

    • Deb says:

Oh boy, Create With Joy!! A move – both exciting and terrifying to a cat!! Hope it works out well and purrs to Legend and Tsunami!

  7. Now that’s what we call bird TV. What a heavenly view and purrfect perch!

  8. OMG i have 9 cats and i could see each one trying this out,and wanting it for their own, what fun!

  9. Marg says:

That is a good looking seat but we wouldn’t have anywhere to put it so don’t include us for the giveaway. But it looks like a nice seat. We wouldn’t trust it either. Have a great day.

  10. Peanut looks blissfully happy on the sunny seat. It would be no good to us though, we have forgotten what sun is. Now if they were to make a torrential rain seat………

    • Deb says:

Hmmm…. interesting concept Eric and Flynn, but somehow I don’t think the marketing people will be contacting you any time soon!! 🙂

  11. CATachresis says:

I don’t think my 12lbs of cat would trust it! He doesn’t even trust the top of the cat tree! Such a wuss! I love the added touch of leopard! xx

  12. Brian says:

Somebody os going to really enjoy that seat!

  13. We have several of those at our shelter – the cats LOVE them!

  14. This Sunny Seat looks very comfy and I love to have a view. My human is a be bit concerned by the suction cup things and if they stand the weight. But it appears to be fine.
    Purrs

  15. Jet says:

Hey Zee, Hey Zoey, Jet here.

    What a pawesome invention!

  16. meowmeowmans says:

    Looking forward the the debates!
