Caturday – Zeuss Catt and his Interpretation of Jackson Galaxy and Da Bird
Editors Note: I am happy to say that Zeuss Catt from Boston and his human Sean, are both “My Cat From Hell” converts now that I have brought the show to their attention. Zeuss is the most amazing cat – he actually does not have behavioral issues – he has captivated me with his intelligence, witty writing skills, and superior athleticism since he was a little kitten. Please enjoy his take on Jackson Galaxy and the infamous “Da Bird” toy as he discusses the show from his point of view.
Last month Deb posted an interview with a human named Jackson Galaxy. Mr. Galaxy is an actor, and he stars in my new favorite TV program My Cat from Hell. Each episode consists of Galaxy portraying a “cat behaviorist” who visits with some troubled cats and their humans. Galaxy uses hypnotic eyeglasses and his magic case of toys to win over the troubled cats, thereby saving the day and gaining the respect of the other humans.
Mr. Galaxy excels in his starring role, but this show wouldn’t be so much fun to watch without the performances of some top-notch feline co-stars. These cats demonstrate tremendous range while acting out their varied roles and deserve to be recognized. Bear, Lu Lu, Sully, Duff, Minibar, Larry, Avery- I’m sure that I’m forgetting some names- all of these cat actors gave great performances and had great chemistry with Mr. Galaxy.
My humans watch and enjoy My Cat From Hell as well, although listening to them speak about it makes me think that they believe the show is real. I’ve noticed that they have started slow-blinking at me, much like Jackson’s character on the show does with his co-stars! This amuses me and I always slow-blink in return to humor them. They think we are communicating deeply, but I’m just messing with them.
Last week, they presented me with an early 3rd birthday present. The humans know that I love My Cat From Hell, so they got me a gift related to the show. A box arrived in the mail with my name on it, and inside was Da Bird! Da Bird is one of the toys from Jackson’s magic case! This wasn’t just a prop from a TV show, but a working prop from my favorite TV show!
In addition to My Cat From Hell, Mr. Galaxy also stars in a public service announcement where he educates the public regarding cat overpopulation. Jackson Galaxy urges pet owners to spay or neuter their kitties, which in turn will help curtail unwanted litters. I’m not exactly sure what spaying and neutering means, but I know that cat overpopulation is a serious issue and I support Jackson’s efforts to help spread the word about it. Watch the video below, and pay attention to the math problem that Mr. Galaxy mentions. (1+1= 80,000!!!!)
Thank you for sharing that great PSA Zeuss! I know you don’t understand what it is (even though your human had this done to you), but spaying and neutering are two types of operations/procedures that are very safe and can increase a cat’s life expectancy. Spaying also reduces the risk of uterine and mammary cancer and neutering prevents testicular and prostate cancer.
And here is another share – if you would like to get your cat Da Bird, click here for details. I know that once my cats see Zeuss playing with this toy, they will be in my purse, grabbing my credit card, and heading to the computer for some shopping…
Okay, that’s it: Ruby and Allegra are getting their own DaBird. Because we don’t have enough interactive toys yet. But every cat should have a DaBird, right?
Look Ingrid… we have enough toys here to open a pet store… but we’re getting DaBird too… Some things are just meant to be!
Zeuss, yet another extraordinary post! I’m thinking a trip to Boston is in order soon for a video interview with you as well as some high-quality still images.
DaBird is the greatest toy ever. All of us just love it and go nuts when Mom gets it out. Glad to hear that all of you are finally getting one. I found another one on eBay that is almost better and it is a tiny little mouse on some wire and they love that even better. Take care.
Wow Marg – that toy with the mouse sounds pawsome!!! I guess I really, really, really need to get my kitties Da Bird now that I have gotten your glowing recommendation!! 🙂
Hmmmmm…. I wish we had cable so I could watch this show. It might help me learn to manage June Buggie!
Oh Rumpy!! I’m sure June Buggie is not that bad – although maybe having Da Bird would give her a good way to release some of her behavior issues that you want to manage!!
We just started watching that show too, but we have to mute it when the cats start cussing cause Sister Gracie gets all bent outta shape! DaBird rocks!!!
Yeah Brian, some of our kitties go on high alert when the My Cats From Hell cats start with the hissing and loud meowing!
I have heard of the show but not seen it – sounds like a good guy! I am a fan of anyone who is so passionate about cat well being!
Dr. Vet – I hope you will take a minute to try out the show! It is on tonight at 8:00 pm, EST on Animal Planet! He really is a great guy!
We’s LOVE Dabird, well, Sele does and we always watch “My cat from Hell” so this post was extra, extra special! Thanks for the fun videos and talking about Mr. Galaxy.
We are glad you enjoyed the post and the videos Wendy!
So nice to see Zeuss playing outdoors. Amazon has da bird on sale.
Thanks for the scoop Layla – will have to check that out!
We agree with Da Bird! We’ve had Da Bird forever here–they were here from before the time I arrived, and I’m 17. Back when I was a frightened and timid kitty, Da Bird made me forget all about what I was scared of and reminded me how much I love to play! [Kelly] And she saves feathers from outdoor birds for when we catch and eat them! You should see all Four of us black cats leaping after one Bird! Even our mama Mimi likes it, but she lived outdoors and caught real birds.
But we think we need to see this Jackson Galaxy person. We do not have one of these things called “TV” and we never really cared because we have Cat TV at the windows and we are always busy supervising our mom, but we need to find out if we can sneak to her computer and find this guy and all these famous cats some night!
Wow Kelly… I feel so silly – I never even heard of Da Bird until Jackson, but it seems like it’s been around a long time! I hope you do get a chance to sneak to the computer – Cat TV at the windows is awesome, it is one of our kitties favorite things too, but seeing Jackson and his cats on the big screen is really cool too! My cats will come out with ears perked up and glue themselves to the couch or TV armoire to watch! He really is helping so much to educate people on the simple things they can do to make life better for cats. Just like with you Kelly, many kitties are scared and DaBird helps them build confidence!
Oooohhhh! That Zeuss can sure jump! When is DaBird going to fly over the pond? He would have a great home here 🙂
Carolyn – Zeuss could be in the Cat Olympics for his jumping! I hope he flys over your pond soon!
The Male got me a da Bird after watching a cat with it on Jackson Galaxy’s show! And I love it. So does Ichiro, unfortunately… We need another one!!!
Geez Chey… I feel like we are the only family on the planet who does not have Da Bird!
I don’t have a Da Bird, but I can tell you it is HIGH on my list of priorities!! I know my cats will love it. I never really thought of Jackson as an “actor” but I suppose he is. Even though it’s billed as a “reality show” I also know there are fabricated bits here and there. I always find it funny that he sticks his bare hand right into the face of a cat he knows is going to scratch it to h***. That’s nuts!
P.S. As a cat lover, I think you will enjoy my latest post about My Furry Valentine. =^..^=
I never thought of Jackson as an actor either Julia, but from Zeuss’s perspective, I can understand why he would think that! And yes, certainly because of the cameras and things, there has to be a certain degree of editing! That was my favorite intreptation from Zeuss – the magic glasses that hypnotize the cats!! I guess that is why he can stick his bare hand into the face of a cat!
Da Bird is the best! Mentioned in “Outwitting Cats” as one of the Timbertop Kitties’ faves. Inspires incredible leaps! We’ve been using Da Bird here on Bobcat Mountain for 10 years — way before Jackson!
That’s so cool Wendy! I know if Zeuss is any indication, the leaping must be amazing!! Thanks for dropping by – if I wasn’t completely sold on Da Bird before, I officially am now! 🙂
