Caturday Catch Up – The Cats Adapt, Summer Vacation is Over, and Life Moves On…

Well, it’s official… Jackie has gone back to Boston and the house is back to it’s too quiet self. Dan and I already miss her tons and so do the kitties. Their routine was a bit out of whack with her around – doors that we typically keep opened were closed (Jackie’s bedroom where there is a window for squirrel and bird TV) and doors that we typically keep closed (the guest bedroom with carpeting and lots of breakables) were opened for Jackie’s cousin, Katie, who came by for a visit the last week Jackie was with us and who does not like to sleep with her door closed.

We also had a lot more company drop by for family events and for the most part I think the cats actually enjoyed the change in routine. Their everyday, ordinary lives took on a whole new spin – kind of like one big and new adventure for them and as long as they could make themselves comfortable, they adapted wonderfully! Now that I think about it, I don’t think the cats were the only ones who enjoyed a change in scenery… I think Dan and I did too! Take a look for yourself with this fun montage of pictures we got that captures the essence of  the past couple of weeks for all of us!

There is no doubt having Jackie around brought some much-needed youth and joy into our house… Seen here she and I are enjoying a silly moment as we dream about getting out of the hot sun to go get some ice cream!

d-GuestRoom

Ah!! Pure bliss for Kizmet, Jazmine, Peanut, and Mia who are thrilled that the guest bedroom is open for cat napping thanks to Katie!

b-RolzJazmine

Jazmine has been with us since last March… it was not until Jackie came to visit that she realized we had this awesome cat tower to climb and play with! Silly cat… Seen here is her playing with Rolz!

e-Lots-of-cats

With Jackie around, I was bringing my laptop into the kitchen to do my cat work rather than holing myself up in the office. If you build it, they will come…the cats were more than happy to follow me to the kitchen. Seen here in a rare photo moment is me with all of the cats. And yes, they are on the counter…

My cat ladies in training…This great shot was taken a few minutes before we left to take Jackie out to a celebration dinner…she turned sweet 16 while staying with us! Her beautiful cousin, Katie, is on my right and believe it or not, we actually did NOT wear the ears to dinner! Meow!

This picture of Kizmet was taken to prove a point. This is a CAT BED.

Ahem…notice anything odd in this picture? This is my Granddog, Rick, trying to pretend he is a cat while visiting us!

i-ZeeZoeyCouch

In between the constant coming and goings in the house, Zee and Zoey share some private nap time on the couch together.

That’s it for now – Happy Caturday and thanks for letting me share my family with you! Have a safe and happy upcoming Labor Day and thank you also for the kind wishes that you left me on Thursday’s post in honor of Mr. Jazz’s crossing to the Rainbow Bridge anniversary. They meant the world to me and I appreciate your support and kindness.

Such is life…all good things must come to an end. This was Jackie, Katie, and I at Hollywood Beach a few days before they had to go back to Boston. Thanks for the great memories girls – love you both so much!

Looks like a wonderful family visit. The cats will probably miss the excitement for a while but will quickly settle into their comfortable routine. That’s what cats do!

Looks like fun was had by all. I don’t mind cats on the counters either-unless I am trying to prepare a meal.

I Absolutely Love a home full of cats! Yours are so beautiful too. Of course they’re on the counter, I mean where else would they be? lol, I have people always commenting on why don’t I stop that, I can’t! Must not try hard enough. I love your dress and purse in the 1st pic, and without my glasses, Rick the dog could pass for a big cat.
My favorite though is Zee and Zoey, they’re sleeping in the same position, I love it when 2 close kitties do that, like perfect statues. Thanks for a heart warming family post. It’s so great to see, I don’t have one, which is why my fur kitties are so important to me.
    Have a Wonderful Weekend!

  12. It sure looks like a great time was had. We hope the kitties don’t go through Jackei-withdrawal.

  13. I always love to cyber visit when Jackie comes for the summer. The kitties probably loved the extra attention and yay for the visit from Rick, the granddog. He sure makes that bed look comfy.
    Have a wonderful weekend.

Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun. Most cats don’t like changes to their routine so it’s cool that the cats liked the company.
