Mark Your Calendars – August 28: Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Event

august_28

Mark your calendars everyone – there’s a special new day planned!

As we all know from the world of blogging, there are numerous special events dedicated to particular days, weeks, and months of the year for our pets. Two of them – World Pet Memorial Day (June 9) and National Pet Memorial Day (the second Sunday in September) – are days to memorialize pets we have lost in our lives. But after writing Purr Prints of the Heart,  a book I wrote in tribute to the loss of my beloved cat, Mr. Jazz,  as a means to help people who had also lost pets and were struggling with the grieving process, I realized I wanted something more. Something that focused on two words I see on nearly a daily basis via blogging and social media – Rainbow Bridge.

For those of us that have loved and lost a pet, while we can never know for sure if it exists, in our heart it is the one true place of peace and happiness we pray our pets go when we have to say goodbye to them, for if we don’t have that, I think it would be nearly impossible to go on.

With that in mind, I really wanted to create not only a special day that honored the loss of my Jazz, but a day that would honor all the pets in our lives that have gone to the Rainbow Bridge – whether with fur, feathers, scales, fins or more. So if you care to participate, I will be hosting my first ever blog hop/linky link to take place on August 28 – the anniversary of the day I had to cross Jazz over the bridge in 2013.

Coming-Soon

I will be calling it “Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day” and I invite you to do whatever feels best for you that day – whether you decide to write a special blog post in honor of one or more pets lost in your life, or you just want to participate by changing your profile picture on Facebook with the special icon I have created for the event, or by lighting a candle in remembrance – whatever you feel like, I just want the world to feel a sense of love and comradery as we jointly unite to remember our companions that have brought us so much joy, love, and companionship for however short or long their time on earth was with us.

Thumbnail-Rainbow Bridge DayI have created a special image for the day and if you are interested in using it, just let me know in the comments or email me directly at info@zeezoey.com and I will get the image to you in a full-size jpeg format. The image I am showing you today is an extremely low resolution and not really suitable to grab and use – just click on it to enlarge to get a better idea of what it looks like. I hope you will participate and I also hope you will spread the news of this day so that it can become recognized far and wide – that’s why I’m letting everyone know a few weeks ahead of August 28th, as I know we all have busy schedules.

Thank you – and please be aware, as I do work a day job, if you email and don’t get an immediate response, please be patient – I promise I will get back to you as soon as I can!

Update: A special event page for Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day has been created on Facebook so that people can share blog post links, pictures, poems, favorite memories, etc. Please click here for the link.

Absolutely lovely! It warms my heart to see people sharing all the loved today. I think we need to petition congress to make this a national holiday. 🙂
