Cats are What Makes the World Go Round and Round
Round and round we go – where we’re going to end up, none of us really knows…unless you’re a cat. Then it’s pretty much a no-brainer. Live in the moment. Enjoy what’s in front of you. Curl up and take a catnap. I think on Sunday’s that’s a good motto to live by. It’s just so hectic nowadays – between the constant barrage of never-ending sensational news headlines and media hype, social networking, maintaining a household, and the current state of affairs – it can consume every bit of energy you have and drain you to the point of mental exhaustion.
I’m not saying we shouldn’t get involved in our world if we see problems and want to help fix them. Politics, women’s rights, animal welfare, and even the dynamics of our personal lives – all of that and more is important and I think we should stick up for what we believe in if we want to affect change. Especially for those causes such as animal welfare, because without our voices, they have none.
I’m also not saying we can avoid maintaining our households – jobs, errands, keeping up with life – it has to happen, that’s just how the world works. I’m just saying that it’s okay to step away for a mental break and recharge, too. I think by clearing our heads, it allows us to be both mentally and physically happier. So for this Sunday I’m taking inspiration from my cats and focusing on the round and round of their lives…as in the habit they have of curling up into a nearly perfectly round shape which I find fascinating. Enjoy the pictures and I hope I gave you a brief moment of calm, peace, and happiness!
Happy Sunday everyone – and if you’re looking for more ways to keep Sunday happy and easy-going, for those of you that missed it, you need to stop by the da Tabbies O Trout Towne blog where Jazmine was interviewed by Dai$y the Queen of Cats for Makin’ Biscuits – Weird Cat Habits and the Even Weirder Habits of the Humans Who Love Them. Trust me, it’s an interview you’ll never forget – one replete with trademark run-on sentences, off the chart wacky questions, and a strange language that makes perfect sense to cats! Please click here to read the interview.
Good advice, and especially important during these challenging times we live in.
Kizmet should join Cat Scouts, you can get a badge for that “shrimp ” pose. Cats can teach us so much, they are zen masters.
Wonderful post Deb. Just what I needed, lovely photos of your cats. Please post these throughout the day. They are so calming!
I agree, that is a wonderful post, and we should all take time to be a bit more like our wonderful cats.
